I’ve been a professional writer since 1996. My first job out of college was in the education department of an Internet service provider, where I wrote corporate curriculum material. From then on, I have always found a way to keep writing.

Business Writing Experience

  • White Papers. I wrote and laid out white papers on emerging Internet technologies for Internet service provider DIGEX, Inc.
  • Case Studies. I wrote and laid out customer case studies for DIGEX, Inc. while working as a Market Research Assistant.
  • Ads. I wrote the copy for and designed ads for a local Pensacola newspaper, The Downtown Crowd. I also wrote ads that were voiced and distributed by satellite to grocery stores by a company called AirAd. I have helped write Craigslist ads that sell.
  • Press Releases & Articles. I wrote press releases for DIGEX, and edited press releases for Nuera Communications, a company that built VoIP gateways. I also wrote and laid out articles for The Downtown Crowd that were crafted to encourage the patronage of local businesses. I have digested articles for a printer and imaging market research company called gap intelligence.
  • Brochures. I wrote the copy for brochures and assisted in the editorial and lay out process for DIGEX. I also wrote and laid out a brochure for AirAd.
  • Website Copy. I was responsible for the writing and upkeep of the Burchell Publishing Website while I was working for them as the editor of The Downtown Crowd.

Technical Writing Exerience

  • Manuals. I wrote and laid out technical manuals for Nuera Communication’s VoIP telephony gateways. The manuals documented hardware and software features and configurations.
  • Online Help. I wrote online help for Nuera’s software products using RoboHelp. I created contextual help as well as converting the manuals into online help format.
  • FAQs. I wrote FAQs for DIGEX customers explaining the finer points of DNS and sendmail.

Creative Writing

  • Short Stories. I have published four short stories (under the name Amanda Lam) in the following small press science fiction and fantasy markets: Twilight Times, MYTHOLOG, Aoife’s Kiss, Amazing Journeys Magazine.


Along with these professional credits, I have written for personal blogs for the last four years (eliste-writes.livejournal.com), and have created web copy for personal web sites.
